AGARTALA, Sep 14 (TIWN): CPI-M Tripura has taken Tripura's ongoing violence issue up to Delhi as none of the culprits was arrested after 6 days of Agartala torching incident and the Central Govt remained a silent spectator. In a press meet organized by Central CPI-M party Opposition leader cum Ex-CM Manik Sarkar has expressed surprise over Central Home Ministry's total silence and partial role over Tripura BJP led injustice, violence and mayhem. Talking to the media, Manik Sarkar said, "In Tripura, the Constitution of India does not work anymore. The BJP has entered the 42nd month of its ruling tenure in Tripura. In 2018, before completion of the tenure of the elected existing administrative local bodies they (BJP) broke down the executive bodies and conducted elections not allowing 90% of the opposition to contest the polls. In 2019, during the Lok Sabha election, a 'wholesale rigging' was organized. Oppositions in Tripura are everyday brutally attacked by BJP, not allowing them to practice any democratic function".
"MLAs are unable to go to their own constituencies yet, including me. During the last 42 months, over 15 times, I have been prevented from entering various areas. Our MLAs Badal Chowdhury, Sudhan Das, Ratan Bhowmik were physically attacked. So what is going on ?", asked Manik Sarkar.
"Press persons are heavily attacked. During the last 1 year, 35 journalists were physically attacked. 5 media houses are virtually shut down. Not only journalists but Advocates are attacked, their houses are looted, ransacked......No protection of Human Rights........that's why I said that Tripura is now Perhaps Out of India as the Constitution of India does not work anymore there.......but the Central Govt is not interfering to control the situation", Sarkar added.
"Why is the BJP doing this ? Because their performance is Minus-Zero........they have cheated voters totally. So, in this condition BJP is trying to suppress the public voice", said Manik Sarkar.
Manik Sarkar further said that BJP is doing experiments in Tripura as its laboratory to further establish One-Party ruled States across India.
