Kailasahar, Dec 19 (TIWN): Huge coal reserve is likely to be discovered at Kailasahar. After Gandacherra, now huge coal like substance was found in a diminutive hill of Unakoti range at Tailenbari area, located at a distance of 10 kilometer from Kailasahar town.

According to the official sources, while the Forest Protection Force was patrolling inside the area, found few tribal people were moving with sacks loaded with coal like substance on yesterday evening. Thereafter, the personnel of Forest Protection Force conducted a search in the sacks. During the search, the protection force found coal like substance in the sacks, official sources said.

Being asked, the tribal persons informed to force personnel about the spot, from where they collected the materials. And immediately the Forest Protection Force visited the place and found stock of coal like substance here.

However, they collected the samples and handed over to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO)- Prasad Rap. After receiving the samples, preliminary the DFO set the coal like substance on fire and found smell same like bituminous coal.

As a result, the DFO along with Forest Protection Force visited the place this morning. After visiting the place, huge coal reserve can be discovered, said DFO.

As part of follow up action, the DFO requested to District Magistrate and Collector of Unokoti district- Mrinal Kanti Nath, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kailasahar- Ajit Sukla Das to send a team of Geological Survey of India (GSI) to examine the coal like substance.

It is worthy to mention here; recently a team of GSI collected the sample of coal like substance from Thakchuracherra of Gandacherra sub-division to conduct a proper study.
