AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): Followed by 3 days strike, bus fare hike decision has turned heavy on the common men ahead of Durga puja. The fare which is already high in compare to other states, has been further hiked approving goondaraj of the vehicle owners. Sources said, Tripura Transport Minister's close aids are in this vehicle business and in that interest, he is never seen to voice again continuous harassment on public. When public were already suffering due to harassment of the vehicle workers, Govt's decision to hike fares amid COVID-19 has jolted the people.

Amid COVID-19 and slow-economy, when people are reported starving, suffering in financial distress, this decision will be troubling them further.

However, addressing media, Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy has blamed the previous CPI-M Govt saying, saying that it did not increase bus fares for long 6 years and thus BJP Govt in 2 and half years is bound to increase fare twice. For fare hikes, a committee will be formed and soon the hiked fares will be announced. All seats of the buses can be used, added the Minister.

After the decision, strike was withdrawn.
