AGARTALA, Oct 17 (TIWN): Tripura Medical College (TMC) has increased its total fee at Rs. 54 Lakhs. In this regard, Congress Party's student NSUI placed a deputation to the Director of Medical Education but huge numbers of police were placed in the spot led the NSUI activists to protest and voice against Dictator regime of Biplab Deb Govt. Congress's student wing NSUI leader Samrat Roy said, in 2017 the fee at TMC was Rs. 21 lakhs, in 2018 it was Rs. 29 lakhs and now now in 2020 Rs. 54 lakhs. "Poor people's children also want to see their children becoming Doctors but today the Education system has become based on wealth. We have come to place a deputation demanding withdrawal of hiked fees. It has to be withdrawn but if it is not withdrawn, then after Durga puja we are going in massive protest", said the NSUI leader. Tripura Medical College is run by a society where ruling party MLAs are also membered. From the Left Govt's era there have been massive controversies over the Medical College ownership whether it's Private or Govt College.

TMC has a hospital  Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital (BRAM).   BJP as opposition had protested against TMC's high fees in Left era but after assuming power, surprisingly, it's fees have drastically increased.
