AGARTALA, Sep 22 (TIWN): Former Minister, CPI-M's indigenous wing Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) President Jitendra Choudhury has taken a dig at the BJP led Tripura Govt over massive financial distress, starvation in hills and rural areas as the State Govt is not concerned over the economic issue. Resulted, on the one side people are massively dying in COVID-19 due to mismanagement, whereas on the other side, they are dying in starvation. "Whoever is speaking against the wrongdoings of the Govt or criticizing it, police attacks or goons led attacks are being faced by the person. No freedom of press, no freedom to free voice is existing whereas only due to Govt's fault, this disease has spread tremendously taking the death toll in a high alert", said Jitendra Choudhury.
"The BJP Govt is trying its best to divert the issues and problems of people with various means and stopping all protests and free voices", said Jitendra Choudhury.
CPI-M has started protest statewide with 5 points of demands including Financial help to poor, voicing against Attack on Media and Common men, anti-labourers moves, seeking Free Medicine Care and proper step to curb COVID-19. This is a part of nationwide protest started before a week.
In Agartala the protest programme was led by former Chief Minister cum Opposition leader Manik Sarkar. Statewide also same programme was held and thousands of people amid rain and stormy weather joined the protests.
