NEW DELHI/AGARTALA, November 27 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar badmouthed against the Centre near Parliament House on wednesday protesting against the curtailment of MGNREGA funds for Tripura. This programme of 'Dharna'( Sit in Demonstration)was organized at a time the Winter Session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is on. The goal was to get national limelight, however that plan was a utter flop as national media ignored non-existant CPIM. Another major scam of Rs 90 crore in NH44 construction is now seeing daylight ( alleged that the construction agreement was given to BRO for Rs 90 crore but it can be completed in Rs 10 crore. Obviously the lions share of this money went to the party in power). Over the last few months through RTI several documents of Internal Audit Reports(IAR) different blocks, Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Councils, multiple scams were unearthed.

It is learnt from a highly placed sources in the state Secretariat that more than Rs 50 lakh have been arranged from the state govt fund organizing this programme in Delhi. Apart from the CM 20 MLAs of CPI(M) from Tripura have also travelled to Delhi for toady's dramabazi of the Chief Minister and his party. Interestingly Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Tripura on December 1 and if the state govt has anything to say about the curtailment of MGNREGA fund , the memorandum of demands can be handed over to the Prime Minister during this visit. Even if the state govt was sincere enough about the curtailment of MGNREGA fund , a all party meeting could have been easily called and after this the delegation of all parties could have submitted to the Prime Minister in the interest of the the people of the state.

No doubt MGNREGA has been playing a pivotal role in the rural economy of the state ever since its enactment . At the same time there is no denying of the fact that crores of MGNREGA fund was looted by a section of ruling party leaders and a section of corrupt officials, of course those are in CPI(M)'s good book. Over the last few months through RTI several documents of Internal Audit Reports(IAR) different blocks, Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Councils and other departments of state govt , many scams were unearthed.

Major Scams under Manik Sarkar's leadership :

1) Looting of Rs 50 crore from MGNREGA fund in which Comrade BDO Bimal Chakraborty, who is the brother of DYFI state Secretary Amal Chakraborty, is the prime accused

2) Rs 40 crore scam on NRHM in Kailashahar

3) Rs 90 crore scam in NH44 construction ( alleged that the construction agreement was given to BRO in Rs 90 crore but it can be completed in Rs 10 crore. Obviously the lions share of this money went to the party in power)

4) Rs 20 crore scam in Rupaichhari R D Block

5) Rs 25 crore scam in Teliamura R D Department

6) Rs 35 crore scam in Kailashahar Horticulture Department

7) Rs 15 crore scam in Agri Superintendent Office at Mohanpur( regarding the buying & distribution of potato seeds).Bijoy Roy, Store Keeper has been suspended

8) Rs 3 crore scam in Bamboo Project( jungle cutting) in Kadamtala

9) Rs 5 crore scam involved in the construction of Kadamtala Hospital

10) Rs 2 crore scam in Tripura Apex Fishery( purchasing of dry fish, limestone, fish food)

11) Rs 2 crore scam in purchase of watermelons plants

12 Rs 1. crore looting in Mekaghar R D Block's Golden Jubilee Celebration

13) Rs 1.82crore scam in Memaghar R D Block( Assement Year 2011-12)

14) 1.27 crore scam in Udaipur Municipal Council.

15) Rs 5 crore RMSA scam

Now the the questions that will definitely arise from this are :-

1) In how many cases police has been given the freedom to work in all these corruption cases and to take action against the gulities

2) Who can believe that the police that got success in arresting Arnab Chakraborty from Kolkata , is failing to arrest the guikties now hiding in Tripura?

3) Is the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar( Home Minister too) careful enough to deal with other cases like the RMSA one? Blaming the centre may give political benefit in befgoling the common mass. But after the chronology of scams , what can be answer of govt?
