AGARTALA, November 26 (TIWN): OTPC Palatana Unit-II is all set for inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 1st. “OTPC Unit II will start its full operation of generating 363MW power from November 28”, informed OTPC MD, S.K.Dubey. While speaking to the reporters at Civil Secretariat, Mr Dubey informed that the Unit II will be run on full load of 363 MW for inauguration on Dec. 1st. However, the power generated should be in use for commercial purpose only from January next year. Speaking to the reporters, OTPC MD had informed that at first, Unit II was set on trial run and it achieved it full generation load of 363MW. Tuning process of Gas Turbines better known technically as DLN tunning process which is already completed. BHEL / OTPC Central monitoring team onsite and via online/remote was always in touch for this final testing phase, exoerts will inspect every loopholes before Unit II goes for commercial power generation.

The tuning process was completed in the past Saturday morning. With that the full load and unload processing was done. Now the machine was kept in cool down position. Most likely it will start functioning from November 28th.

On 1st December after the inauguration by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Unit II will run for 7-8 days. After that it will be in shut down or cool down position so that commercial generation can start from January 2015. Then the second stage of tuning will continue for 10 days. 

While on the issue of commercial generation and utilization, Mr Dubey informed that an agreement with the North East States known as PPAT agreement will take care of utilization issue. After that the primary check/ last trial run of the Unit II will be done. Then the report will be sent to Shillong for approval. The whole process will be completed most probably within January next year, he further added.

Meanwhile preparations in OTPC Palatana Thermal Power Plant site is now in full swing regarding) from Unit-II(363.3MW).As far as Trial Run of Unit­II is concerned technicians of OTPC & BHEL are now in a position to start Commercial Generation at any time. Highly placed sources told TIWN," On last Saturday night Unit­ II  base load generation achieved (362MW) and for 8 to 10 hours the Power Grid of Bongaigaon was supplied 350­ to 355MW. On the early morning of Sunday the load had to be reduced from Unit­ II to retain the full load supply ."

At present technical works have already been completed regarding COG. Ahead of PM Modi's visit, painting and repairing works too are going on to give the entire plant area a new look. Moreover, the construction agency has already started the preparation of the stage. Police administration too has collected ID Cards and photo copies of all the staffs working in project site. Special passes will be issued against each of the employees just before PM visit.
