'29% school students have No mobile phone in Tripura' : Report

AGARTALA, Aug 9 (TIWN): In "Indian Express" news it has been reported today that around 29% school students don't have any access to mobile phones.

"Education minister Ratan Lal Nath told reporters that the survey, conducted among 3,22,297 students from all eight districts of Tripura during Ektu Khelo Ektu Padho classes, revealed 94,013 students didn’t have access to any sort of phone", published Indian Express.

On August 4, 2020, Tripura Education Dept had launched a Call Centre for the students to help them during depressions. While launching the project, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath said that around 36 lakhs of mobile phones are existing in Tripura which means, almost everyone has a cell phone and thus students surely make calls from home to the Call Centre. Addressing media, Nath said, “Earlier there was Online Education Portal but this new project had to adapt as due to Coronavirus, students are sitting in home. The guardians are worried about students depression. Thus, this call centre for the students has been launched to save the Children from depression. Earlier there was recording classes, online classes, live telecast, Doordarshan have spread education across Tripura. Then Youtube, Ektu Khelo, Ektu Poro move was taken. 0381-2410053 will be the number and students will learn anything from the teachers there”.
