AGARTALA, July 29 (TIWN): 17 years old girl's gang-rape incident which has shaken media across India, is undergoing fastest investigation led by Tripura Police. DIG Soumitra Dhar held press conference in the Police Headquarter amid COVID-19 tension, just to assure the people about proper probe going on in the case. Addressing media, DIG Soumitra Dhar said, "On 21st July this FIR was lodged. It's a Gang-Rape case ! Case No- 79/20 was lodged and till now Police is succeeded to arrest 10 persons. 2 of the main accused whose names are in FIR are still absconding. According to the FIR, Rupesh Sarkar was the main known person to whom the victim went to meet on that day".

"The victim went to Chakmaghat and after meeting him she was to return at around 6.30 PM. Then the rape accused all persons met them and promised to take her safely to home but the tragic consequence had occurred on that time. After the incident, the girl called Rupesh and he again went there to meet her but local people inquired what was she doing with him in evening and by that time, this incident was revealed". 

"Police have booked them who helped the few accused to abscond or might have helped...thorough investigations are going on", said the Police officer.
