AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Amid State Govt has imposed curfews and prohibited any type of Social, Political, Religious gathering, IPFT has announced Tipraland Statehood Day on August 21st. IPFT leader Mangal Debbarma has announced that there will be a meeting centering the upcoming programme and it is to be decided who will remain present in the programme and how the whole process will start. On the other side, Tripura Govt has ordered strict actions against violators. Neverthless, more than one month is left for the programme of the IPFT and how the situation will be on COVID-19, it’s unknown. On the other side, Tripura has reported 2nd COVID-19 death in state. In 2019, the IPFT had observed the '12th Tipraland Demand Day' at Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and said it would not veer away from its core statehood agenda.
State Revenue Minister and IPFT president Narendra Chandra Debbarma addressed a massive gathering at Khumulwng Academy Grounds, about 30 km from Agartala, and said Tipraland is indigenous peoples' core demand.
But this year, due to COVID-19, how the situation will remain it is unknown yet.
