Public lives rattled in Tripura due to rain, stormy weathers : Rainfall in Northeast likely for 5 days incessantly

AGARTALA, May 27 (TIWN): After cyclone Amphan had rattled severe parts of the West Bengal, Odisha, now Northeast India is under the grip of challenging weather, already affecting Tripura, Assam and various parts of the Northeast region. Houses were damaged, in Agartala, electricity connections disrupted due to trees collapsed in natural phenomenon. Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls is expected at isolated places over parts of Assam and Meghalaya, Tripura during the next five days and over Arunachal Pradesh today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.In various parts of the capital city Agartala have faced challenges, as trees collapsing have damaged electrical posts, disruption, power connectivity.

Various shops and houses were damaged and the rains are continuing, informed TIWN correspondent in Agartala.

The expected downpour has been attributed to strong southerly wind from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India at lower tropospheric levels.

The IMD has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next five days and over adjoining parts of east India during the next 48 hours.
