COVID-19 suspected 18 families sent to Institutional Quarantine in Tripura after they joined a Religious Gathering in Delhi

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 1 (TIWN): In whole Tripura total 18 families have been identified for joining the Nizamuddin programme in Delhi which has spread Corona-virus like fire in India. That programme was attended by over 2,000 delegates, including from Indonesia and Malaysia, attended the Tabligh-e-Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin West from March 1-15. An official said that from West Tripura 14 families, from North Tripura-1, Gomati Tripura-1 and from Unakoti-1 totalling 18 families are COVID-suspected. However, the officials told media that public's main duty is to stay home and to maintain social distances. Today, a medical team has visited in the affected areas in Agartala (West District) and talked to the families, taken them to institutional quarantine. They said, in all Districts department's officials are doing their jobs sending the suspected families to quarantine.

The medical team has said that the families are very much cooperating with the official team and thus they are not facing any problem to take them to quarantine. 

In whole Tripura total 18 families have been identified for joining the programme. 

More than a hundred people have tested positive for coronavirus and a nationwide manhunt is on for suspected cases after a large religious gathering at Delhi's Nizamuddin that has emerged as a virus hotspot with links to seven COVID-19 deaths.

Nearly 2,100 people have been evacuated from "Markaz Nizamuddin", the Delhi headquarters of the Tablighi Jamaat group, since Sunday and at least 441 in Delhi have shown symptoms of the virus. In the middle of a national lockdown, hundreds of people had been staying at the facility for weeks. Over 1,100 are now quarantined in different parts of the city and lanes near the religious centre have been taped off by officials in hazmat suits. A police case has been filed against the mosque administration.
