AGARTALA, March 31 (TIWN): Like many states, Govt of Tripura has also decided to distribute free rations to “Needy” APL families. The decision came one day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the same, although free food distribution is going on across Delhi already. Addressing in a press conference on Tuesday after a Special Cabinet meeting, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath announced, whereas earlier it was decided to give 15 days free ration to BPL, Priority, Antadaya families, now State Govt has decided to extend the free ration distribution for more 15 days that is 1 month along with another decision of distributing rations to more 50,000 APL families who are really needy. Nath said, if anyone already has taken out ration for April month, then they will be compensated in their accounts with the proper dues. The Minister further said, with the new decisions, the previously announced decisions will not be affected and all announced decisions will be benefiting the people. Antodoya families are going to get 100% free for long one month. These decisions will cost total Rs. 233 crores.

“Huge number of people are outside the state. They will be given free fooding, lodging and if any state govt doesn;t cooperate, our govt will take full responsibility”, he said.

Total 7944 passengers have been travelers and 1183 people were released after 14 days of observation. In facility surveillance 167 people are residing. Over 600 people are in home isolation.

Food Minister Manoj Deb, Food and Civil Supplies Secretary Debasish Basu also remained present in that press meet followed by Cabinet meeting.
