COVID-19 Lockdown : Tripura Govt directs Police to stop unnecessary Public harassment, passes to be signed by SDM to Essential Commodity traders

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 26 (TIWN): After storms of criticism erupted with viral footage of public harassment by police in Agartala, Govt of Tripura has directed State Police to stop public harassment just. A high official level meeting was held where it was discussed, why because of rules breakers all the common men will be suffering ? When on yesterday it was seen that even Govt employees or traders are harassed, lathi-charged, today it was under control. Debasish Basu, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare has stated that Govt urged all the offices to provide house identity card and also Associations will be giving a pass then and then it will be issued by SDM. It was directed that no commodity bearers should be harassed and obviously, those who are coming out unnecessarily will not be allowed to roam.Same condition earlier, erupted in Delhi at the beginning, which is now under control.On the other side, ATM money bearers were brutally attacked by police unnecessarily and they have stopped giving service as a result. It has raised question on police’s play again reminding Madhav Bari like brutal trend of police whenever Home Dept gives them free hand to control law and order.

Police officer GS Rao said, on day-2 the situation was improved a lot.
