AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, March 24 (TIWN): Today, from 2 PM Lockdown order has come into effect due to Corona-Virus outbreak. Although, no positive case was reported in Tripura, but Govt is not leaving any stone unturned for safety measurement. No restriction was imposed on hospitals, essential commodity carrying vehicles, Hospitals, Commodity Carrying vehicles, Ration Shops, Court, Police Station, Banks, Veg/Non-Veg markets Grocery shops etc. Also ATM, Telecommunication Services to remain undisrupted along with fuel pumps. Ahead of lockdown, lots of gathering the Govt side had to manage although markets, fuel pumps, hospitals all to remain open. SDM Agartala has ventured his frustration over public made crowds across petrol pumps, markets since lockdown till 31st March from today 2 PM was announced by Chief Minister on yesterday evening.

Addressing media, SDM Agartala Ashim Saha said, “People are not cooperating. The gathering was supposed to decrease but the lockdown announcement has multiplied the gathering now in the city. We are telling people again and again that retailers will keep their shops open, all the petrol pumps, medicine shops, emergency services, vegetable markets etc also to remain open. Don’t do hurries and create panic”.

“People are buying double, triple amounts of commodities than the need, which is increasing the prices illegally”, said DSM.

Sellers were arrested in Agartala for keeping extra charges from buyers whereas few shops were reportedly seized.

“You can buy later, but if disease comes then you can’t do anything. The meaning of lockdown turning ironical. Social distances are not maintained”, the SDM told media. 

Govt of Tripura has fixed various prices, limiting onion, potato prices by Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 at maximum.

On yesterday night, from Agartala coverage it was reported that SDM is visiting shops to shops and also held meetings with local market committees.

It was assured that there is nothing to be panic and daily needed commodities to remain available in retailing shops.

He said, all what the public have to do is to maintain social distance and not to come out of the home.

The SDM Ashim Saha also announced that everyday commodity prices will be announced across the areas of Agaratala.

Chief Minister Biplab Deb on yesterday said that Tripura has 20 days food stocks. 

Tripura Govt has taken certain decisions for the people as : 1) If any Doctor or Medical staff get infected by Corona-Virus during treatment of patient, then Rs. 4 lakhs to be given to the Doctor's family, 2) 3,95,000 social pension beneficiaries to be given 2 months advance allowance, 3) Antodyoy, Annapurna, Priority group members will get free ration for next 15 days (total 5 lakhs 86,000 families), 4) Mid-day-meal receiving children will get 15 days rice and daal in home, 6) Anganwadi children, pregnant women also will get their food grains at home, 7) For Tuep workers Rs. 5 crores have been sanctioned, 8) Total 10 days works have been given to the MGNGREGA beneficiaries (they will work by maintaining social distance and proper hygiene), 9) For PDF emergency works 5 crores have been sanctioned, 10) Roster duty for the Govt employees. Daily commodity selling shops, medicine shops, banks will remain open.
