Chandrapur brutal incident: Multiple footage and photographs sent to Forensic Laboratory, next hearing on Nov 17

Agartala, Nov 10 (TIWN): Multiple photographs and footages pertaining to Chandrapur Tata Kalibari incident have been sent to Guwahati for forensic test by the police, last week. Police is likely to receive the forensic reports very shortly. After getting the forensic reports, police would produce them before the court. After a span of 14-day judicial custody (JC), all the 18 FIR named accused persons would be produced before the CJM court on November 17. According to the sources, police is interrogating all the accused persons randomly into the Tata Kalibari incident and also trying to gather more evidences. The investigation into this case is on the right track, added the source.

Mentionable, on the pre-eve of Laxmi puja, Soma Majumder, a housewife of that area was tortured inhumanely by the alleged cadres of ruling front including women at Tata Kalibari area of Chandrapur under East Agartala police station. On the same evening, the victim had logged an FIR against 18 persons including women in this regard at East Agartala police station. All FIR named accused persons of Chandrapur, Tata Kalibari incident had surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court on October 20.  

It is to be mentioned here Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), West Tripura had sent all the FIR named persons to 14 days jail custody later by cancelling all the anticipatory bail orders for accused persons granted by the Judicial Magistrate (First Class).

Under the immense pressure, created by public, media and different political organization, the police had finally added non-bailable sections 354(B) for outrage of modesty, 394 for robbery and 109 abetment of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against all the 18 FIR named accused persons.

As part of face saving exercise, the Tripura Police Accountability Commission (TPAC) had recently asked for the investigation report from the police on Tata Kalibari incident. According to a source inside TPAC, separate investigations have been conducted on the role of the police into the case earlier.

The Governor of Tripura- PB Acharya had directed the police authority to ensure the security to the victim and other witnesses in this regard. Following the Chandrapur brutal incident, Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura- Deepak Gupta had summoned investigation report on the issue.
