Left Parties in Tripura remembers Mahatma Gandhi as symbol of ‘Secularism’

AGARTALA, Jan 30 (TIWN): CPI-M along with other Left parties in Tripura have paid tribute to the martyrs of India who dedicated their lives for the motherlands India.

The programme was organized on the occasion of Martyrs Day of India, the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Mahatma Gandhi is the ‘Father of the Nation’ and it was Netaji Subash Chandra Bose who called Mahatma Gandhi as the Father of the Nation.

Addressing on the occasion, CPI-M convenor Bijan Dhar said, “Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas about way of freedom was different and democratic. There may be light differences of ideologies with the Leftists but it is also true that this person (Mahatma Gandhi) dedicated his life for the sake of unity, harmony. His stand was clear. He was very religious person, but never did Hindustva politics”.

“Today India needs to be united again against all odds and with national flags in hands should come forward to save the country and communities’, said Dhar.

CPI-M State Secretary Gautam Das accused the BJP Govt for attempting to change the secular country into a Hindu Rastra.

The programme was conducted in front of the Akashbani Bhawan, Agartala.
