AGARTALA, Jan 29 (TIWN): A doctor was beaten heavily in Tripura, admitted in GB trauma centre. He was beaten in Dharmanagar hospital premise where he was appointed. Few have suspected that it was intentionally done to create a disharmony in the state ahead of ADC poll, although the victim doctor has suspected local club members in revenge have done this as he denied earlier to give huge amount of donation sought from him.Addressing media amid his serious condition, Dr Subendra Debbarma who is admitted in GB hospital trauma center said, “Around 150-200 people had attacked me when I was returning home from the market to the quarter. When I attempted to call the police, my phone was snatched. The attack took place so suddenly that I can’t say anything, but my colleagues said later that around 150 to 200 people held attack upon me”. On being asked by media, why was he beaten the Doctor said, “I myself do not know the reason, but most likely it is due to donation issue. In last Kali puja, the local club demanded Rs. 15,000 from me and I denied. Then two times, I was threatened in the hospital itself. My car’s glass was broken and they said that they will see me later. I have identified few of them and can recognize faces”.

The injured Doctor also said, he will definitely file case in police station. The doctor was beaten with flower tubs, hands and many more items.

The problems regarding donation charges by puja clubs was complained to the Govt many times but it has not taken any action, as the maximum clubs are controlled by the ruling party members.

During Durga puja, fruit carrying truck drivers were beaten, their trucks were chained in Dharmanagar for donation and during Durga puja days, it led heavy fruit crisis in the capital city Agartala.

Udaipur's Pragati Sangha in Durga puja time, held an incident where a Class-7 tribal boy was beaten and threw in a big lake (Amar Sagar) putting him inside a sack although he was miraculously found alive in the morning.

However, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb even today while addressing in a sports programme said that clubs are no more doing Dadagiri under the BJP era.
