AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): With the uncertain future hanging over the fate of the Bru Community, an indigenous Northeast Community who are treated in negligence both by Tripura Govt and Mizoram Govt, Royal scion Pradyot Manikya has written a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding shifting of rehabilitation package would be shifted from Mizoram to Tripura.
He also described how during Dumbur Hydel Power Project Tripura had desheltered the Brus from Tripura.
In the letter the Royal scion also said, “Tripura which even gave refuge to Shah Shuja who was escaping his brother Aurangzeb wrath and lakhs of discriminated Hindus from East Pakistan and Bangladesh pre and post partition has to give an option for our BRU/Reang people a chance to stay in the state along with proper land and educational and health facility”.
After united protest of Brus on road for long 7 days in addition of 6 starvation deaths, Govt of Tripura reinstalled the ration supplies for the Brus again from November 8. But the complications remained as the supplies will be till November 30th. Thus the tension about food supplies continue to haunt the Bru camps, thinking, what would happen after 30th November ?
The BJP led State Govt continues to push the Brus whose surnames are maximum Reang to Mizoram back whereas after few families physically travelled for Mizoram experienced horrifying outcomes and unwelcoming attitude of the Mizoram Govt. The given promise was not even filled to satisfy the needs of the Brus and in this situation after 22 years of refugee like lives, the Brus have demanded to stay on the soil of Tripura as many children, youths are among them who born here.
