Agartala, October 31 (TIWN): Jeopardized bilateral talks are scheduled to be held between a team of delegates from Delhi and Dhaka over exporting 100 MW power of Palatana OTPC plant on November 3, said a source of power department here today.

The three-member team from Centre includes R. Saha, Director (SP & PA) of Central Electricity Authority, Ashok Rampal, Chief Engineer (F &CA) and another delegate will represent on behalf of India with their counterparts Chowdhury Alamgir Hossain, Deputy General Manager, SPMC, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh, Mizarul Rahman, Managing Director of Bangladesh Development Bank and Arun Kumar Saha, Deputy General Manager (I/C), Planning, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh.

Several delegates from Northeast states and Tripura shall also participate in the meet scheduled on November 3 next. But the crucial points will always surface on the economic booster for the state over power to be exported to Bangladesh, where Tripura government has yet failed to fulfill the quota preserved power for citizens of the state.

The supply of power grid is supposed to get generated from Suryamaninagar Feeder in state through South Comilla district in Bangladesh with power capacity of 400 kVA. But here a striking role shall be dealt by Central delegates with representatives from Bangladesh to maintain economic balance within state with international trade perspectives either.

Palatana OTPC project has already disappointed many citizens of the state after its successful installation, despite the glorious inauguration of the project been made by President Pranab Mukherjee back on June, 2013.

It may certainly raise question on whether the meet shall strike a good socio-economic balance through bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh, from which the state can benefit handsome revenue eventually. The meeting shall be conducted at Pragna Bhavan on Monday.
