AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): CPI-M MLA, former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury is admitted into ILS hospital in serious condition, just now (night 10.30pm) it was reported after former CM Manik Sarkar reached the hospital. Choudhury is admitted in the ICU of ILS and his condition is serious. It happened as for long 7 days with fabricated case led mental torture on Choudhury. A false case was filed against the former Minister and 24X7 police force was deployed across the city in hunt of the opposition leader. Badal Choudhury is a heart patient and maximum times remains ill but due to Biplab Deb Govt illegal and continuous mental torture upon Choudhury and Ministers like Ratanlal Nath who openly called Badal Choudhury a ‘criminal’ and also various tortures on his family and relatives by police, his health condition has suddenly downed. Not only Choudhury is the first victim but retired Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik in such serious situation was admitted in GB hospital on yesterday. Both of them are senior citizens and physically ill. Along with Manik Sarkar, CPI-M State Secretary Gautam Das also reached the hospital. Manik Sarkar informed Badal Choudhury's condition is serious and question doesn't arise for talk. Badal Choudhury's blood pressure is going high.

FIR was lodged against Badal Choudhury on 13th October night and police started hunt for him across the state whereas on the next day Choudhury received interim bail but on 16th October Badal Choudhury bail plea was rejected in the District Court but police in last 5 days were deployed on day-night duties in search of Badal Choudhury. 8 Govt officials including police top layer officers were suspended.

Badal Choudhury’s lawyers on behalf of him has appealed in the High Court for anticipatory bail. Tomorrow the final order to come.

Today while talking to media Badal Choudhury’s Lawyer Bikash Bhattacharjee said, “Each and everything was followed by decisions and meetings and the way Govt has worked against the retired officials no bureaucrat will work honestly in future after that”. Detailing about the case, Bhattacharjee said, “Through the sub-inspector of the Vigilance an FIR has been lodged alleging to the extend that the various infrastructural projects which were undertaken by the Govt of Tripura under the Chief Ministership of Manik Sarkar where Badal Choudhury was the Secretary of the Public Works Dept (PWD), the initial expenditure has been surpassed about few hundred crores and they claimed the expenditure was done without consent of the cabinet. That is the basically allegation and we argued, that type of allegation can not be a criminal case”.

Attorney General Arun  Bhowmik said that anytime the order may come out. It may be today or tomorrow. Bhowmik blames the PGs of Badal Choudhury helped him to hide and said it does not matter whether Badal Choudhury looted by hands or via others he did that.

Bikash Bhattacharjee said, “The way the Attorney General is keen to take Badal Choudhury into custody it displays it as a politically motivated case totally”.

Manik Sarkar and other senior CPI-M leaders have rushed to ILS hospital to see Badal Choudhury’s health condition. Tension erupted among the well-wishers of Badal Choudhury and common men after the news was flashed.
