Panic, Violence in Tripura By-Election : FIR lodged against BJP activists ! Rigging, threatening allegation against BJP MLA Ramprasad Pal’s hooligans, CPI-M candidate blacked Road

AGARTALA, Aug 22 (TIWN): Law and order of poll bound Badharghat constituency is now under Election Commission as not even 24 hours left for much awaited by-election in the constituency but tension and panic already triggered in the constituency after BJP activists allegedly attacked CPI-M activists and a shop-keeper's home at that area. Although State Election Commission called all voters to fearlessly cast their votes on Monday since morning 7 am, but in the morning a family belong to CPI-M was threatened by BJP hooligans led by 1) Prasenjit Roy, 2) Santu Debnath which resulted in road-blockade, chaos and more tension. A huge number of CPI-M activists, leaders are now safeguarding Badharghat and met the family in Siddhi Aram and the started the agitation. The incident occurred after CPI-M members were posting banners in a shop. The hooligans also attempted to burn the shop asking why is he allowing CPI-M to post their banners. The miscreants did not stop there but also attacked the family of that shop-keeper. The family not only attacked by the hooligans but a child in the house was attempted to be beaten. Demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the violence, CPI-M blocked road at Siddhi Asram.

Local police officers, security forces rushed to the spot but the anger of the CPI-M supporters went high by that time.
They said, this time if BJP attacks them, they will also attack back but anyhow they will cast votes. Police official Subrata Chakraborty assured that law and order will be blanketed with heavy security.

The CPI-M party candidate Bulti Biswas was also present in the road blockade demanding arrest of the attackers. FIR has been lodged against multiple BJP activists, so far no arrest yet.

In last 18 months the opposition parties faced rigging, threatening, failed to cast votes. 

The CPI-M has brought allegation against MLA Ramprasad Pal for today's violence. CPI-M leaders expressed worries saying as soon as hours will pass house to house attacks will be increased. However, police promised nothing will happen such.

Against MLA Ram Prasad Pal form High Court arrest warrant was also ordered and it was centering a post poll attack on public. Pal is infamous for threatening police officials whenever police officials tried to commit justice with their profession.

Today, after police assured action against hooligans, then the blockade was withdrawn. CPI-M said they will protect people as they have no trust on police.
