AGARTALA, Sep 19 (TIWN): In a political revenge attitude the BJP led State Govt had terminated huge numbers of employees including JICA, Forest Dept, Health Dept and many more contractual employees and various workers under mid-day-meal, municipality etc. Many more are yet at risks of being terminated. Cancellation of ongoing recruitments affected multi-thousand people and still under BJP Govt various staffs’ livelihoods are under threat including SSA, MGNREGA employees. It has been reported that cancellation of recruitments and terminations’ numbers are actually atleast double than the appointed people’s numbers. In the first one year around 1400 jobs were given but maximum of them were under TET and over thousands of TET qualified were not given jobs. Contractual employees are undergoing massive tension across various depts. But in a relief for a section of employees Tripura High Court has restricted Govt of Tripura to recruit new employees by terminating earlier existing employees.

In a verdict, Justice Arindam Lodh has made it clear that no Government can not terminate people and in those same posts recruit fresh candidates.

The petition was about GRS appointment where BJP led State Govt advertised for interviews for the post of 1,962 MGNREGA workers (Gram Rojgar Sevak), whereas already 1,962 people are still working in this same field. It created doubt among the existing employees and GRS Bendu Deb filed a writ petition in the High Court.

Court made it clear that no existing employee can be terminated. As Tripura Govt did not say anything about termination in the advertisement, so the advertisement was not cancelled.

So, Tripura Govt now can not terminate the existing employees and also has to appoint more 1,962 fresh employees as per the interview.

Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy that is CMIE’s monthly data has ranked Tripura Tripura in the second position for unemployment rates out of 29 states in India for August-2019.Tripura’s unemployment rate is 27.9 %, which is second. The unemployment rate has increased however than before but Tripura earlier was occupying 1st position and now it is second. In the top position it is Haryana with 28.7%. Tripura BJP led State Govt has focused on self-dependency and self-employment as the first priority and Govt jobs in various Dept are going on but there are pending demands of the job aspirants as Homeopathic field, Veterinary field. The BJP led State Govt has announced to recruit 50 TCS and TPS officers per year in Tripura, recently Chief Minister Biplab Deb has announced.
