AGARTALA, Oct 27 (TIWN): Adding more woes to the CPI-M led state government, a delegation of Congress led by Opposition Leader- Sudip Roy Barman Monday filed a Public interest Litigation (PIL) at Tripura High Court seeking CBI probe into the MGNREGA scam worth Rs 50 crore in Bishalghar RD block.Earlier Congress alleged that state police are so far behind to conduct an impartial investigation into this multicrore scam, only CBI could find out the money trail. Surrender of kingpin Bimal Chakraborty before the court was nothing but an attempt of match fixing to safeguard the main accused persons. Even more FIR named accused persons are still at large. According to the sources, the SDJM court, Bishalghar has already issued arrest warrant against all the accused persons.
Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) spokesperson- Dr. Ashok Sinha Monday said, “The state people have witnesses the role of state police in the name of investigation. The state people are eagerly waiting to know where the huge embezzled amount has gone. We do believe that the High Court will pass a realistic order on this issue.
”The Opposition leader, Sudip Roy Barman also claimed that not only 12 persons, more than 105 government employees are allegedly involved in this multicrore scam. He also mentioned that the embezzled money would exceed more than Rs. 50 crore.Earlier a delegation of Congress leaders went to Kolkata Eastern Zone AG HQ and requested a special audit report by the experienced officers of AG Department.
The special audit report claimed that more than Rs 50 crore was embezzled and there is huge chance of increase of this amount.
It is to be mentioned here; after a slumber of 34 days from lodging of FIR, scamster Bimal Chakraborty the then BDO of Bishalghar RD block, who is presently behind the bars had surrendered before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Bishalghar on October 23. Prior to that, under the immense pressure from public, opposition parties and widespread publication of media, the state government has suspended Bimal from the post of Dy. Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department.
According to the Congress sources, Advocate Dipak Biswas, Advocate Dilip Deb and Apu Deb would moveed the PIL in favour of the petitioner.
