AGARTALA, Sep 11 (TIWN): Tripura erupted in protest against BJP Govt’s inhuman step of scrapping free medical service in Hospitals. Buckling under protest, BJP Govt partially has withdrawn decision of imposing fees after media and opposition's continuous protests followed by poor man Promod Modok's death in the GB hospital after his wife could not pay Rs. 10,000 for operation. Two days after long protest of the opposition and the media houses, and also netizens, Chief Minister Biplab Deb has announced that there are many mistakes in the drafts but before announcement of new laws by the State Govt, the papers which were under drafting were leaked caused the chaos across the state.

Biplab Deb on Wednesday has requested the media and also the opposition that before knowing a decision of the Govt fully, they should not open their mouths. He said prices on OT, Oxygen like matters were drafting mistake.

Addressing media at the Secretariat, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “Since last few days, centering Health Dept’s one decision people are via social media, few via protests and also via media trying to explain their versions.

“Without knowing the matter fully, it is not healthy for democracy to speak anything against a Govt. Specially, those who want to project themselves as expert than me for them this matter goes specially. Many things go on inside the Dept. Secretary will write something, joint Secretary will write something, but without the matter comes before people fully, if we start propaganda so a wrong message goes to the society”, said CM.

CM tried to blame Media & Opposition, said opposition to keep a Positive role but failed to accept responsibility for Govt’s inhuman decision.

“Radiology, pathology etc totaling 286 tests happen in Tripura. The previous drafted list, recorded by mistake 337 numbers. There are many items by mistake have been written many times. By mistakes fees were imposed. Like serial no-39 THS which is again repeated in the time. Many items have been doubling given. Total 51 items have been repeated but with this list the market has been heated up”, said CM.

A journalist asked for clarification, “Does it mean no rate was hiked”? CM replied, “No no, it was hiked but repeated many times”.  Deb talking about the issue of OT said, “The OT or the surgical matter is free in Tripura. Piped oxygen has been written, whereas we have not launched yet piped oxygen. Now cylinder is being used. So, Emergency and OT all will be free in Tripura as it is”.

CM criticized the oppositions protest against Oxygen charging, mentioning it will be free of cost. He said it was drafting problem.  “Govt money means public money. Whatever I will do it will be also for public”, he added.

However, there are many items like AC cabins like issues which will be payable including food and little admission fee costs. CM said, these will bring transparency.  Emergency service also will be free as per CM’s latest press conference on Wednesday.
