AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Sep 11 (TIWN): Due to immature decision of the BJP Govt ahead of by-election by scrapping free-medical-service under the permission of Law Ministry, notified by Health Dept of scrapping free medical service in Govt hospitals have boosted oppositions’ support massively, whereas Left parties are getting massive response in door to door campaigning centering previous Govt’s Free-Medical-Service. From media to common all urged the State Govt to withdraw the decision but so far no action has been taken to restore the previous health care system. Even, a great section of BJP supporters now demoralized under the new law scrapping all free medical services from the Government hospitals. Only a little section of BJP workers, supporters are trying to defend the BJP Govt on the new law whereas the maximum BJP supporters are hitting their heads after ahead of by-election BJP’s unpopular decision damaged Govt’s image massive.

When Govt was getting successes in various fields from Railway to industrialization by opening single window-system, this single decision has damaged the Govt’s image ahead of election. 

On the other side, CPI-M controlled ADC promised people not to impose fees in Govt hospitals till CPI-M will hold the power.

Across Tripura political parties have undergone heavy protests against BJP-IPFT Govt’s decision of removing free health service in the state. This decision is also as a part of pre-privatizing era of the state's hospital service.

This is first ever that a Govt has taken such brutal and anti-people decision violating the guidelines of Supreme Court.

No. F.1 (28)-DHS/GS/18 issued by Department of Health and Family Welfare on September 6 asked the consumers to pay Rs. 20 and Rs. 10 for registration in Out Patient Department (OPD) and Rs. 30 and Rs. 20 for admission in hospital beds respectively. The prices added ICU beds at Rs. 300 for Antodaya Annapurna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries, Rs. 300 for Priority Group consumers and at Rs. 600 for people above the poverty level per day. AC cabins in public hospitals would be charged at Rs. 700 daily. Food would be charged at Rs. 50 per day for APL consumers.
