KAMALPUR, Oct 23, (TIWN) : The claim of TIWN about rampant corruption and embezzlement of fund in Kamalpur Division proved true after the first serious Audit in the Division yesterday. Few days ago TIWN claimed that, in the Kamalpur Division of TSECL, rampant corruption and embezzlement of fund is at full swing in the name of fake works and bills. Soon the CMD of TSECL summoned the three officials of the Division to Agartala and finding irregularities in their works and words, sent an Audit team consisting two DGMs and one Asstt. General Manager yesterday.

In their primary enquiry, they found many irregularities. On 22/08/2014, a work order no. 172 was issued for purchasing office materials which costed Rs. 77,779 rupees. But the audit team found that the actual cost was within 10,000 to 15,000 rupees. Again in the cases of providing remote villages with MDTW connectivity, ransom looting was done by the nexus of contractor and officials.

Even, scamsters didn’t leave the nationally important and security relevant ‘Border Lighting Project’. From Laxmancherri BOP to Malaya and again from Reang Forward BOP to Krishnatilla BOP the work was for lighting 25 kms of border road. But lights are provided anly in some parts leaving the greater portion. However, the contractor from Agartala has gobbled the entire amount of 79,00,000 rupees, paying the Implementing Engineer a large amount. The audit team though not spoke to media, but sources claimed that, they were speechless and stunned. They reported to CMD for several more enquiries to unearth the complete corruption saga. What steps the authority takes now, is the matter to watch.
