AGARTALA, July 16 (TIWN): Resentment of common is now beyond tolerance as after decade long waits, there is no development in the water-logging problems and monsoon has remained horror for the people. It not only paralyzed the city, but has hit daily workers’ works, business of Agartala shop-keepers. Office schools have left paralyzed. Public now directly accusing both previous and the present govt saying, only hopes have been given but no result has been received. Bank services are also paralyzed and ATMs left cashless at a large number. Agartala flood has been worsened due to massive water-logging for the poor drain management system. Unscientific construction of Tripura’s capital city Agartala, covering of drains in the name of footpaths, spaceless and compressed constructions without proper swaging system for decades has left the city unorganized and clumsy with unscientific building constructions. The city neither has left space for footpath, nor for drains and the drains anyhow in few places became footpath by covering them, which has further increased water-logging problems of the city.

For last 3 days, people have suffered due to massive water-logging across the city, specially office-goers and students.

Neither the city developed greeneries nor kept space for footpath and as a results drains left covered as used as footpaths.

On July 8, Chief Minister Biplab Deb had spot visited various corners of Agartala city and turned red seeing garbage thrown across the city, blamed Councilors for high negligence in duties. It can be mentioned, during rains the garbage and rain water floods together which is very unhygienic and but people are bound to walk through this dirty water.

CM on that day said, at least 2 years it will take to make smart city.

Now, the Govt has taken 1200 crores of loan but how far the water-logging problem can be solved with the existing unscientific city, it’s under doubt. Moreover, Agartala city suffers due to spacelessness.
