AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Central Govt’s initiatives along with NFR & State Govt’s plans, railway expansion continue in full swing across Tripura. After Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s meetings with Central Ministers, Railway Ministry is planning on making double lane from Lumding to Agartala. Via two MPs in the Parliament, Tripura CM has raised various issues including double line and also renovation of railway stations.CM has mentioned in his recently delivered few addresses that without infrastructure no state can progress and thus since the beginning either it’s Feni river bridge or Railway, Biplab Deb has focused on connectivity. In all speeches, CM mentions about HIRA, i.e. H for Highway, I for Iways, R for Railways and A for Airways. Via MPs, Tripura has also demanded an express train from Silchar in night hours. It can be mentioned here, Govt also is going to start more city buses, to ease the movement.

Focusing on roadways is centred with Tourism development also as GDP’s base has been planned under tourism.

In another development for Indo-Bangla transport connectivity, recently Chief Minister Biplab Deb has demanded a bus service between Tripura’s Sabroom and Bangladesh’s Cox Bazar.

Deb to write a letter to the Union External Affairs Minister Dr Subrahmanyam  Jaishankar in this purpose.  

He said, there are various states in India where people of Tripura visit to see beaches whereas Bangladesh’s Cox Bazar is no less than that. It is also cost and time profit area for Tripura people.  

Cox’s Bazar is a town on the southeast coast of Bangladesh. It’s known for its very long, sandy beachfront, stretching from Sea Beach in the north to Kolatoli Beach in the south. Aggameda Khyang monastery is home to bronze statues and centuries-old Buddhist manuscripts. South of town, the tropical rainforest of Himchari National Park has waterfalls and many birds. North, sea turtles breed on nearby Sonadia Island.  Tripura is also developing a Railway connectivity with Bangladesh.   

On June 15, Chief Minister Biplab Deb has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi after the 5th NITI Aayog session was ended successfully.  Various demands for state’s development was placed before the PM by Biplab Deb including roadway projects, flood problems and malaria like diseases which grips Tripura each year.  The meeting was followed by NITI Aayog’s meet at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.  Biplab Deb said that the water-line route will make Tripura the gateway of Northeast.  

Also various issues were placed and proposals given to centre for tourism industry’s development.  He urged for more CRS fund for the Northeast, public sector companies in India should be permitted to use 10% of their CRS fund in the Northeast, may pave the way for implementation of HIRA.  Deb urged Petroleum Ministry to re-exam the VAT issue with ONGC, causing losses to the Government of Tripura.The CM also told the NITI Aayog about developmental projects and helps given to the rural people of Tripura.
