Tripura Panchayat Election in 6,646 seats : BJP held crucial meeting, Opposition parties began preparations, demanded 'Peaceful Election'

AGARTALA, June 24 (TIWN): BJP has conducted another crucial meeting centering the upcoming Lok Sabha Election led by BJP top leaders including CM Biplab Deb. Deb said, BJP held above 3 meetings for the upcoming election This election sounds in BJP’s favour after a landslide victory for the BJP at Centre and State, Tripura Political parties have geared up for upcoming Panchayat Election. Total 12 lakhs 3 thousand 70 voters names have been enrolled in the electoral list sharing 6,16, 893 male voters and 5,86,176 female voters. Total numbers of seats are 6,646. Gram Panchayat : 591, Panchayat Samiti : 35, Jila Parishad : 8. State Election Commission said that anyday the voting date can be announced officially. Opposition parties in Tripura have demanded peaceful election in the upcoming Pachayat Poll. Chief Minister Biplab Deb also asked for written letters from the opposition if they have any demand.

CPI-M informed media that the party is keen to give its candidates but wants to ask the Chief Minister, whether there will be repetition of violence and poll rigging like previous local body polls. Congress also holding a press conference on Thursday placed similar statements.

Opposition asked peaceful election, as in the last Panchayat election massive rigging was reported along with viral footages.

Earlier, BJP had constituted a 13 member committee led by Education and Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath for the nomination of candidates. By June 21, BJP will get the aspirant candidates’ names.

Congress, CPI-M, BJP ally IPFT which are fighting election independently, conducted a meeting led by party leaders.

The Election likely to be conducted at the last month of July, 2019.
