AGARTALA, May 28 (TIWN): Tripura’s former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday has slammed the BJP Govt for its failure to control law and order and BJP led massive violence, poll-rigging in the state of Tripura.
Manik Sarkar said such violence is not new but since the local body elections held in Tripura under BJP era, the same situation erupted again and again.
Today 6 members of delegation team of CPI-M visited Chief Minister’s residence led by Manik Sarkar, Badal Choudhury, Tapan Chakraborty, Sahid Chowdhury, Bhanulal Saha, Prabhat Chowdhury. They met the CM and discussed about the poll violence, urged Chief Minister Biplab Deb to immediately stop all violence ongoing in state.
Manik Sarkar said, “We trusted the Election Commission and Administration for the Lok Sabha Election, but all have seen our candidates could not go to the people, massive attacks took place on our people. EC was bound to postpone one election, but the ruling Govt didn’t learn any lesson from that”.
“In vote counting also our supporters were attacked. No respite after election the level of violence increased double”, added Manik Sarkar.
Manik Sarkar demanded, the people who were engaged behind violence should be arrested and asked the Govt to give police more freedom beyond politics.
He also asked the Govt to bear the expenditure of medical treatment and to compensate the family whose properties were burnt. Manik Sarkar also told told Biplab Deb to stand beside the families.
