Tripura Poll Rigging : Statewide CPI-M’s protest in demand of Total Re-Poll in West Tripura constituency

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, May 10 (TIWN): CPI-M is being conducting massive rallies, agitations, demonstration in demand of re-poll in the total West Tripura constituency. A massive rally was organized at Sonamura led by sitting MP Sankar Prasad Dutta. CPI-M today is conducting various rallies in demand of re-poll in the total constituency whereas the party has also filed a case in the Supreme Court demanding re-poll. The other opposition party Congress has also decided to move to Supreme Court to review the decision taken by Election Commission of India (ECI) to hold repoll in 168 booths. According to opposition parties, ECI’s decision of re-poll merely in 168 booths is not justified according to the demand. On the other side, BJP is resented over the decision of Election Commission of India for re-polling.However, total 10% seats have been announced for re-polling and the election will be conducted on 12th May.

The reasons due to which opposition parties demanded repoll are :

  1. Booth Capturing,
  2. CCTV footage damage,
  3. Voters prevention in local areas,
  4. Voters pushed out from voting rows selectively,
  5. Polling agents of the opposition were beaten, pushed out of the booths,
  6. Fake vote casting at a massive numbers,
  7. Haunting voters from door to door since April 10 night,
  8. Withdrawal of security forces due to which Additional DGP Rajiv Singh was removed from Law and Order Dept,
  9. Presiding Officers were beaten while carrying the EVMs,
  10. RO himself said around 433 booths were rigged,
  11. Massive video footage of election rigging across Tripura was exposed in social media,
  12. Viral video of BJP MP candidate Pratima Bhowmik where she is threatening in post-poll latenight an IPS Officer to kill on spot,
  13. Voters demanded re-poll including many BJP voters could not cast votes,
  14. RO to various electoral officers were punished under disciplinary action of ECI.

Congress has demanded CCTV footage from the CEO under Right-to-information.
