ARTALA, April 23 (TIWN): Amid rigging across East Tripura constituency, there was no lack of enthusiasm among the voters in casting votes in case of East Tripura poll unlike West Tripura constituency, however, still many voters could not cast their votes. At the same time Rigging has been reported throughout the state. In Hrishyamukh (South Tripura) 30 booths left without opposition polling agents. CPI-M polling agents were beaten and voters were restricted to come to the polling station. Many video recording has been viral which shows massive poll rigging. Voting for East Tripura constituency has begun since 7 am, whereas rows of voters were observed since 4.30 am. Amid much threats of ruling BJP, there was no lack of enthusiasm in the voters. But at the same time massive rigging incidents are exposing, where voters, polling agents are stopped from visiting booths. On yesterday 197 CCTV cameras were damaged inside polling stations. After the revelation, East Tripura RO (Dhalai DM) Vikash Singh has spent all night to restore the cameras.

Total 197 cameras in 359 booths were found disable under the direct involvement of Dilip Dam, Area Manager of “Pho-Com-Net Pvt Ltd” and its owner Dipak Biswas.Dhalai DM has issued notice both Dilip Dam and Dipak Biswas.Former deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi has been appointed as special observer for Tripura.

In Amarpur, Police have arrested two BJP polling agents at Sankar Palli’s No-2 booth after he was marking voters at a polling station sitting in an area which is not allowed for poling agents.

Fake vote casting has been alleged at Telimaura.A local news channel has broadcasted footage where an indigenous youth is distributing fake ID cards at Telimaura’s Howaibari area.

Former deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi has been appointed as special observer for Tripura followed by West Tripura poll rigging and massive allegations were coming against East Tripura poll manipulation.

The East Tripura Election is today, was postponed based on the critical law and order situation. 
The Election Commission had postponed polling in the Tripura (East) Lok Sabha seat from 18th March to 23rd March, saying the prevailing law and order situation there is not conducive for holding free and fair polls.
