AGARTALA, March 18 (TIWN): Attacks on CPI-M leaders, activities continue in Tripura led the CPI-M to complain to Election Commission officers during All Party Meeting. As security has been tightened in day times for rallies, in night hours BJP’s attacks continue entering houses of the opposition leaders. In last 24 hours many people were injured. During All Party meeting today CPI-M delegates led by State General Secretary Gautam Das meet Election Commission officers of State Tripura and complained about all the ongoing brutality. In a statement, CPI-M State Committee said, CPI-M delegates have met Arvind Anand, Election Commission’s Tripura Secretary and urged him to take tight control so that opposition can do their political activities without any problem. CPI-M requested the Election Commission officers that public should able to vote in democratic manner, all political parties should indulge in democratic practices, campaign. CPI-M complaints the EC that since March 3rd, Tripura’s democratic environment has been destroyed. Continuous attacks on party offices, party supporters turned lives suffocating.6 CPI-M leaders were killed, 1600 activists were injured, hospitalized and many received injuries severely and few became handicap for lifetime.

“When undemocratic, fascist Govt is ruling state, police have failed to control the law and order and worked totally in biased manner. The remaining party offices are under regular attacks.

“CPI-M led by Sitaram Yechury has complained to Election Commissioner on 20^th February but no development has come after that meeting also. SDM stopped party activities in Chamanu, 12^th March CPI-M leader Himangshu Roy’s family was attacked. 16^th March Dukli Party office attack and MP Jharna Das and her husband were attacked physically and hospitalized, but the accused persons got bail immediately. On 15^th March Melaghar CPI-M leader Shibapada Barman was attacked. On 16^th March Rana Bahadur Debbarma of Khowai was attacked and later in serious condition he was also hospitalized. He is still in senseless condition”, CPI-M told EC.

The party also complained about how Daily-Desher-Katha like newspapers are under pressure and hawkers are stopped to distribute the papers.

On yesterday night also Arindam Biswas, Sushanta Chowdhury, Shyamal Roy (CPI-M) youth leaders houses were attacked, stone pelted at Dukli. In Ranir Khamar area,another leader Pradip Majumder and his wife were attacked, beaten severely, whereas police took no action.

CPI-M has demanded safety of the candidates, CPI-M leaders and to restore peace and democracy.
