AGARTALA, March 15 (TIWN): Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain will visit Tripura on March 17 to review poll-preparedness and meet with political leaders of all parties. He is also scheduled to hold meetings with police and state election commission officers. Amid Model-code-of-conduct, ruling BJP led poll violence have been haunting the state whereas even on yesterday in broad-day-light CPI-M party office was attacked but police acted in favour of ruling party. Then MP Jharna Das’s husband Koushik Das was beaten and admitted in hospital in serious condition. Sources informed, even before announcement of candidates names, BJP General Secretary Pratima Bhoumik led hooligans are forcing people to leave houses who are going to opposition leaders. Footages proved already many times, how BJP forced common men, businessmen to open their shops on opposition called strike. The previous both local body elections (Municipality and Village Committee) were openly brought under rigging-series and BJP won 96% seats without any competitor. In last 1 year, party offices, houses were attacked over than 10,000. Murders and physical attacks are going on. CPI-M already complained to EC about various attacks and urged Election Commission to save the democracy. CEO Sriram Taranikanti has announced today about Deputy Election Commissioner’s arrival in state. The Deputy Election Commissioner will also state election department officials, police and opposition leaders of various political parties.

The election in Tripura will be conducted in two phases.First Phase Election will be conducted on April 11, 2019.For the First Phase date of notification will be 18th March and last date of nomination will be 25th of March.  Scrutiny will be held on the next day. Last date of withdrawal is 28th March. Second Phase Election will be conducted on April 18, 2019.For the Second Phase date of notification will be 19 March and last date of nomination will be 26th of March.  Scrutiny will be held on the next day 27th March. Last date of withdrawal is 29th March.

Counting will be held together on 23rd May along with whole nation.  25, 98, 290 voters are in Tripura.

It can be noted here that two phase polling will be conducted in Tripura, said Election Commission Chief Sunil Arora. On April 11 and April 18 the election to be conducted in two parts.

State Election Commission CEO Sriram Taranikanti has announced a toll-free number of 1950 which would help the voters to know about their voter ID card related information.

However, same facility will be available if can be checked in the website.

The Election Commission of India has launched Cvigil mobile application for citizens to report any violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during elections known as ‘cVIGIL’, which stands for “citizens’ vigil”, was tested on a pilot basis during the polls in Karnataka’s Bengaluru.Tripura CEO Sriram Taranikanti has motivated the Cvigil for state Tripura. The election commission has now decided to extend the service during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. "cVigil, a citizen app, will help the public reach out to Election Commission on any malpractices” announced Sunil Arora, the Chief Election Commissioner, during the press conference.By using this app, citizens can immediately report on incidents of misconduct within minutes of having witnessed them and without having to rush to the office of the returning officer to lodge a complaint.The vigilant citizen has to click a picture or record a video of up to two minutes’ duration of the scene of violations of the model code. The photo or video is to be uploaded on the app. The automated location mapping will be done by the app using the Geographic Information System. After its successful submission through the app, the vigilant citizen gets a Unique ID to track and receive the follow-up updates on her or his mobile.
