AGARTALA, Feb 28 (TIWN): Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers on Wednesday in a press conference recalling their 7 days long hunger strike said that during that agitation against the then Left Govt, the present Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath, Minister NC Debbarma, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as opposition leaders shared the dais with SSA teachers and promised that once BJP comes in power they will be regularized. Addressing in a press conference, SSA Association Secretary Bastab Debbrama told media, they have only demands which is “regularization” along with the demand of hike of salary at 2.5 factor like other regular employees. “During our agitation CM Biplab Deb, Education Minister Ratanlal Nath, Minister NC Debbarma, Sunil Deodhar, Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, NC Debbarma all were present, attended the agitation on that Anashan-Stage. Their demand also was about “Regularization” of SSA teachers. Before the Lok Sabha election all teachers will be regularized it was promised by Himanta Biswa Sarma”, said Bastab Debbarma.

Total 5,145 teachers and 399 non-teaching staffs are existing in this SSA Association.

Bastab Debbarma also said, as Central Govt said that within 15th November the vacant posts should be filled up, so there are 12,000 posts in Tripura education dept for teachers left vacant and there the SSA teachers should be immediately recruited.

The teachers are working since 15 years under SSA, said the SSA teachers.

However in state budget so far no fund for the regularization was seen.
