AGARTALA / JIRANIA, Jan 10 (TIWN): Temporary relief for Biplab Deb Govt as BJP Govt’s ally IPFT after 48 hours of Jirania police firing incident has supported the BJP-IPFT Govt and didn’t withdraw support from BJP Govt demanding investigation in the issue. A statement in this regard was given by Tribal Welfare Department Minister (from IPFT) Mebar Jamatia. He said, “Earlier we had staged many demonstrations. For long 11 days, IPFT had blocked National Highway too with similar protests, but why did the firing was done? I have asked the Govt for proper investigation and want to know who ordered the firing. However, we are waiting for the inquiry to be completed within 1 month. Since years we had organized various movements, dharnas, blockade but nothing happened this kind of sort of thing, neither such incidents took place like that. Buy why did it suddenly happen ? It’s very serious issue”. The IPFT Minister also demanded compensation to the people who lost their properties in that incident regardless tribal, non-tribals.

“On 8th January 2019’s Madhabbari incident is very unfortunate. One behalf of our party we regret and appeal to the people of Tripura regardless tribal and non-tribals to maintain the peace and tranquility. IPFT party strongly condemn the incident. We demand high level Judicial Inquiry into the incident and report within 1 month”.

“IPFT realized since 2009 dharna, road blockade conducted in Tripura by IPFT, but it has been always peaceful and undisrupted. It proves that IPFT party always tried to maintain the peace”.

“Earlier 100s of movements we organized and our movements are going on, but on 8th January the movement was called by INPT and CPI-M and few other organizations. It was not organized by IPFT. There was a hidden agenda of certain parties led the incident. Also we observed there was no control of the incident, there was no leadership”, he said.

“We found not a single leader of the parties was present at there. Therefore the situation turned ugly. We believe there were some hidden conspiracy against our BJP-IPFT Govt which is running the state since 8 months and to get political mileage some political parties are organizing protests against the Govt”

“We demand high level judicial investigation from the Govt side and we are helping all the victims as best as possible and giving free-medical treatment to them”, he added.

Noteworthy, with a major setback for indigenous supporting regional parties and student organization INPT and TSF under Biplab Deb led Police Dept have registered cases against 500 Tiprasa youths in Ranir Bazar and Jirania police stations, who are members of INPT and TSF in Jirania’s Madhabbari police firing incident. 'Against TSF Secretary Bishu Debbarma, President Upendra Debbarma, leader Sunil Debbarma and around 500 TSF students the case was registered. Case No-4/19 under IPC 148/149 / 333/ 153/ 307/ 436 427 is under investigation', daily newspaper Tripra Darpan reported.

But till now, which police officials were involved in this firing on students, no clarification yet has come in this regard, whereas there are demand from regional parties for suspension of SP West AJit Pratapa Singh who led the whole firing episode without announcement. NESO, IPFT Tipraha calling press conference has condemned the whole episode and almost all pollical parties have condemned the overall incident including looting of shops, setting fire on houses whereas police firing was on the top list of condemnation. There was also a charge additionally imposed National Highway Act & Arms Act 27.

Section 144 has been continuing at Jirania since 6 youths left injured in police firing. 1 is under life support, 5 seriously injured undergoing treatment.Internet service has been yet suspended.
