Amid attacks upon ‘Democracy’, Tripura pays tribute to the ‘Father of Constitution’

AGARTALA, Dec 6 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has paid tribute to the father of the constitution Dr B R Ambedkar on his 63rd death anniversary at Agartala.

Nobody can deny, Tripura is undergoing massive attacks upon democracy, brutal tortures upon media and opposition activists led on yesterday to go many attacked families in exile. Tensions are going on across Melaghar, Belonia, Udaipur, Khowai.

Role of Tripura CM Biplab Deb, who is also the Home Minister has been silent till now. The attacks took place by his party BJP is exposed many times without any arrest of the culprits behind the attacks.

On yesterday even though 6 persons were arrested at Melaghar but police were bound to release them. Tripura is experiencing worst outcomes of the Govt when one Dipak Debnath was arrested recently just for sharing a news in his facebook.

However, along with whole nation Tripura also paid homage to Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar on his 63rd Mahaparinirvan Diwas on Thursday.

The Father of the Indian Constitution Dr Ambedkar was a jurist, economist, politician and a social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination of Dalits, women and labourers. 

He died on this day in 1956 and the day is observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas every year. A number of functions are being organised all over the country to mark the occasion. 

President Ram Nath Kovind offered floral tribute at the statue of Baba Saheb at Sansad Bhavan Lawns in the Parliament House complex.
