AGARTALA, Oct 23 (TIWN): National Muslim body Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Tripura unit has raised voice against Lalit Bazar-Ranir Bazar area violence which burnt various houses of Muslim community centering a rape attempt case by four Muslim men with a tribal girl.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has demanded strict action against both community’s people who engaged to break law.

“After four days of passage, Kalikapur area has not overcome the tensed situation. As a result, Section-144 has been continuing there till now. The Muslim families are much afraid”, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind  President M.T. Rahman said.

The Muslim body further demanded proper compensation for the affected people of that area and asked the Govt to organize a meeting among all communities so that the peace and harmony stays safe.

The incident started after a girl was attacked in attempt of rape / molestation by Ranir Bazar area's four Muslim men when she was with her friend on the way to her home.

In between the boy stopped the bike for nature call. On that time four Muslim men molested the girl but few local people saw that incident and saved both of the boy and victim girl.

After that incident police immediately arrested four culprits but it has been alleged that the Muslim families demanded to release the four accused. In the mean time a huge numbers  people came on the spot and they also burnt few houses.

After that around 80 Muslim families gheraoed Ranir Bazar PS on Ashtami night as many families lost their houses. They have demanded compensation for them. The Muslim families alleged, when Minister NC Debbarma came to the spot, the tribal people were not ready to listen to him and also attacked him (according to Muslim families statement). Then the issue turned communal (Muslim vs. Non-Muslim)

However, police have filed two cases : One is molestation case and another is House-Burning case. The situation is now under control.
