Tripura celebrates as 6 days left for Durga Puja festival to start

AGARTALA, Oct 9 (TIWN): Since the Mahalaya on yesterday, crowds have gripped most of the shopping zones in the capital city Agartala. Clubs have been geared up with final preparations with their pandals.

Durga puja is most awaited time of the year when festive shopping kicks off. Customers shop till they drop and businessmen get busy counting their income. 

People are going for the latest designs and fashion. All most all the shops and the shopping mall are block with customers. While the housewives are busy getting their favourite anarkalis stitched the teenagers are going gaga over the fresh stock of tunics brought new for the stock.

Buyers are not just buying clothes to look their best this puja but are trying to give their homes a new look too. Demand for bed sheets, curtains, wall hangings and other handcrafted decorative items used for decorating homes are also up.

Despite price rise, more and more people are thronging the branded outlets showrooms to grab the best outfits for themselves and their loved ones.  Designer Sarees, salwar-suits, kurtis and leggings are the pick for girls and women of all ages. While ethnic attires beckon the young girls, most of the young boys opt for western outfits like slim T-shirts and narrow fit jeans.

Although there is no puja sale or discount offered to the customers but mainly because the stores are full of latest and fashionable cloths. The businessman are expecting a bumper sale and expecting that the rural villagers to throng markets in large number along with the urban population who want to celebrate the puja with new fashionable cloths.

However, due to rural economy is down, this year overall business is running at loss in compare to the previous years.
