AGARTALA, Sep 29 (TIWN): On 29th Sept 2016, gallant soldiers of Special Forces destroyed number of terrorist camps across Line of Control in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. To showcase the courage, valor & sacrifice of the Armed Forces, Parakram Parv was observed on 29th Sept 2018 across the states of Tripura & Mizoram as part of nationwide celebrations to commemorate the second anniversary of the Surgical Strike.
In Tripura, 21 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised Mega Celebrations in various schools at Agartala, Teliamura, Kumarghat, Udaipur and Khowai. Motivational Videos, lectures by gallantry award winners & Assam Rifles Band & weapon display were major highlights of the celebrations.
The main function was organised at Assam Rifles Public School (ARPS) Agartala, wherein a documentary on surgical strike was showcased followed by a cultural program & military pipe band display. One of the major attractions was the artillery gun in the weapon display which drew maximum interest of the youth. Besides ARPS students, the children of Ferrando Rehabilitation Center also attended the event with great enthusiasm. Dr Sandeep Mahatme, District Magistrate West Tripura, was the Chief Guest at the event who urged the students to work with the ethos of 'Nation First'.
A weapon and band display was also organized at Govt High school in Fatikroy for the students wherein the local MLA, Mr Sudhangsu Dev, graced the occasion as chief guest. A lecture was also organized at Govt High school, Kanchanpur with an aim to spread awareness regarding role & contribution of the forces.
In Mizoram, 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) marked the occasion by organising a weapon display at Aizawl which was attended by the students of 2nd Mizo NCC Battalion, Mount Carmel School, MICE Higher Sec. School, Mary Mount School, St Paul’s Higher Sec. School & Home Mission School. The local youth being trained by the Aizawl Battalion under the Students Outreach Program also attended with much fervor. The highlight of the event was a motivational talk delivered by Col John Zama, Sena Medal, President Ex-Servicemen Association in which the youth were acquainted with the history and role of armed forces in nation building. Similar celebrations were held at Serchhip and Chhingchhip which was attended by students of Sainik School, Serchhip, NCC cadets and ARPS.
Indian Armed Forces have always brought laurels to the Nation both in war and in peace. Such events commemorating the continuous and valiant efforts of the forces facilitates in imbibing nationalistic spirit in the youth.
