AGARTALA, Sep 13 (TIWN): Observing the BJP’s organized poll violence across Tripura, opposition parties have demanded re-conducting of nomination filling procedure. Tripura Congress President Birjit Sinha said, “People will answer to them, we believe. We don’t have enough language to condemn the ongoing incidents. Earlier also oppositions were attacked but now it’s in its worst situation under the BJP govt”. The Congress also has demanded the re-scheduling of whole nomination submission process. Till now no action has been taken against BJP activists who left at least 5 police officials injured, neither in incidents like all-party-meeting at Bamutia any action was taken against BJP goons who entered the block office and stopped the meeting. On the other side, IPFT has placed a deputation to the State Election Commission, demanded re-conducting of whole nomination paper submission process. IPFT leaders said, maximum their candidates who wanted to submit nominations could not submit on Sep 11, i.e. the last date of submitting nominations as BJP not only blocked IPFT activists but massively beaten them, burnt their vehicle. Placing the deputation, IPFT leader Mangal Debbarma said, "Due to the ongoing exercise of poll-violence, our most of candidates couldn't submit nominations. Boxonagar, Dura Chowmuhani, Jubarajnagar in all areas massive violence was sponsored. Police's failure to control the situation and safeguard the IPFT activists was another major reason behind it".

On Wednesday, Tripura Ex-Chief Minister Manik Sarkar hit the BJP Govt for its open Panchayat-election rigging, violence against Opposition Parties including ally IPFT and not allowing any other party to submit nominations leading bloodshed in state. Addressing in a press conference with Ex-Ministers Tapan Chakraborty, Badal Choudhury Manik Sarkar has termed Biplab Deb's Govt as "Jungle Raj" not leaving its aligned party also. Sarkar told before media here, "The situation of Tripura is now much tensed, slaughtering of Democracy is being going on. Nothing is hidden as media, social media have exposed the ruling party. Why are they (BJP) so much afraid of people ? Just before 6 months, they won the election and now within 6 months so much insecurity ! Is this because all the fake promises they done before election and now unable to fulfill a single promise ?”

"CPI-M urged the State Election Commission, but a State Election Commission has limited power and unlike Central Election Commission, it can not function independently. We also requested state govt to control the situation, but the situation remained unchanged. In front of BDO led all-party-meeting they attacked the oppositions. BDOs even though tied to control the situation but how far a BDO can go against the ruling govt. It's quite shame that out of 6111 Panchayat seats 3207 are now vacant for which election is going on and out of them 3148 leaders were bound to resign", Sarkar said.

"It's really sad that earlier, Tripura was known for good governance and now it's recognizing newly by the nation. A total salughtering of Democracy is going on”, Sarkar said.
