'Modi Govt looted over 11 lakh crores by taxing Fuel' : Manipur MP

AGARTALA, Sep 9 (TIWN): Manipur MP Thokchom Meinya on Sunday hit the Modi Govt with allegations of tax looting from common men with fuel price hikes in last 52 months of ruling at Centre.

Addressing in a press conference,  Thokchom Meinya said, "Modi Govt is selling cheap petrol, diesel to foreign countries as Indians suffer all times high prices".

"Due to the tax levied by the Modi Govt on fuel, there are high hikes of petrol, diesel as well as cooking gas. It has already looted 11 lakhs crores plus in last 52 months from fuel taxes and the common men are the ultimate sufferers", he said.

"Nearly 40 % hike has been reported on fuel under Modi Govt since 2014, but it's going high without a pause", the MP said further urging public to support the 12 hours strike called by Congress on tomorrow.

An agitation was staged by Congress here in Agartala ahead of 12 hours strike after the press conference by the Manipur Congress MP. 

Dr. Thokchom Meinya is a member of the Lok Sabha who is currently serving his third consecutive term. He represents the Inner Manipur constituency of Manipur and won the elections as a party candidate of the Indian National Congress political party.
