AGARTALA, Sep 8 (TIWN): Darlong Students Union members have felicitated Miss Tracy Darlong who has made Tripura proud, by winning Gold in Kickboxing in the Boxe Francaise Savate Championship, held at Chandigarh.

Tribal Welfare Minister Mebar Kumar Jamatia was present in the felicitation programme held at Dasharath Deb Memorial Auditorium. 

The Minister said, "I never met her before she came to meet me after winning the medal, neither I knew anything about her. But she has achieved 8 gold medals till day, residing in a deep rural area. But she didn't had any exposure till day, which surprised me".

"However I will talk to my Dept. Our Govt will help her to meet success and fulfill her dreams. In the upcoming winter season, she will participate in international level competition of kick boxing", said Mebar Kumar Jamatia to media here. 

Unknown Facts about Tracy 

Darlong hails from 82 Mile, a far-off town in the Kanchancherra territory of Dhalai area, almost 140 km from Tripura’s capital Agartala. Indeed, even as an understudy of the 82 Mile Proper High School, Darlong was known for her donning ability. Her house is loaded up with utensils, divider timekeepers and different mementos that she got as prizes. But Darlong has an inherent desire in her to strive for more.

Dalong’s proud mother Biakveli Darlong is all praise for daughter. She said that her daughter was always excited about games of all sort. She recalled how Dalong would run in school races, play shot put, kabaddi, football, and volleyball. “We have empowered her from the beginning. We trust she does right by us”, she said.

While Darlong was studying in the 9th standard, Kickboxing mentor Pinaki Chakraborty visited her school. He had earlier trained Nishtha Chakraborty who won gold at  Asian Kick Boxing Championship held at Russia.

“Pinaki sir visited our home and requesting that I advance Tracy’s enthusiasm for sports. He disclosed to us she would be a decent contender. Be that as it may, I declined to release her to Kolkata for a competition in 2013 because of budgetary issues. She got another offer in 2014 to challenge in Bangalore and I concurred. My little girl won a gold decoration at the specific initially go,” Biakveli said.

In four years she won gold at the WAKO India Junior National Kickboxing Championship held at Pune, the fifteenth National Muay Thai Championship in 2014, the WAKO India Senior National Kickboxing Championship, the National Amateur Muay Thai Championship in 2016 and the second National Savate Championship held in Chandigarh in August in 2018. She also won silver at the India Independence Cup International Karate Championship in 2016.

Darlong credits her close relative BN Darlong – who helps their family every now and then – her mentor Chakraborty, and individual villagers for her prosperity up until this point. She said needed to stop thinks about after the class 10 because of “some family issues” however wants to come back to ponders once more.
