AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Even though Airport renaming celebrations are blown out of proportion by Tripura CM but Biplab Deb’s latest claim of 25% commodity price down with Feni river bridge opening sounds impractical. In reality after the four months of BJP Govt in Tripura not a single commodity price has been downed, whereas fuel prices were hiked and within 15 days of fuel price hike with the tax implied, the vehicle fare has been massively hiked, which has been termed by Congress that ‘Unique fare-hike since independence’. After arriving in Tripura on Wednesday from NEC meeting held at Shillong, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “With the port is opened for transport after Feni river bridge inauguration, the commodity prices will be heavily downed. This is only port (near to Tripura in Bangladesh) is connected with Northeast through Feni river and as portways costs are less so public’s living standard will be high, they can do savings”.

However, question raises, will the Govt be able to control the price which are fixed by not any rule but according to the wish of the sellers, businessmen. Till day the fare-charges could not be controlled by the Govt and instead 7 rupees all autos are taking Rs. 10 rupees from the passengers.

Till day the fare-charges could not be controlled by the Govt and instead 7 rupees all autos are taking Rs. 10 rupees from the passengers.

Question raises, whereas ahead of Lok Sabha, Bridge launching and Airport renaming can mitigate the fare hikes which has increased at 20 %.  According to the recent notification, it has been said that in case of bus fare hikes total Rs. 58.3 paisa per km will be taken whereas in case of AC diesel bus 1.22 rupees will be taken from the passengers. AC-CNG buses will take charges at Rs. 78.40 paisa per km, whereas from CNG Non-AC bus passengers 55.15 paisa will be taken. However after the list has been out, question raises will any bus charge a passenger 2 rupees for 2 km ? How far state govt will check the day-to-day issues ? What about overloading buses ? Due to overloading tendency of the bus driver and conductor 1 hour's journey everyday turns 2.30 hours journey ?

CM while addressing media at Agartal Airport said, “The discussion was basically confined with doubling farmers income and or govt is working in the direction of PM Modi”. CM also said, “State Govt will focus on bamboo plantation and development so that Northeast can earn revenue with that”. The Chief Minister also has confirmed that there is no lacking of bamboo in state.

CM further made it clear that NEC can play a great role in the marketing of fruits and food items. “I have also placed  Government's vision of making a 'Drugs Free Tripura' into making a 'Drugs Free North East' and called upon the member CMs and Governors to for their support in this direction”, Biplab Deb told media.
