‘Tripura could become IT-hub, but turned Addiction-hub in last 40 yrs’ : CM

AGARTALA, June 26 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on "International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking" has slammed the previous CPI-M and Congress govts of Tripura accusing the for turning the state a centre of drug-addiction and illicit business.“Due to Tripura’s drug smuggling practices, neighboring Bangladesh Govt is also tensed as no country will want illegal drug entries which kills the youths”, CM said. Slamming the previous CPI-M Govt further, CM said, “The previous Govt only played role like blind king Dritarashtra. But now I will not allow to continue such crimes. Via skill development, we will progress the state and youths will become self-dependent. CM was addressing ahead of a rally, which had been flagged off on the occasion of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” in Rabindra Bhawan premise of Agartala. CM also said, no political leader of any party will be spared if they are found in illegal drug business.Biplab Deb further thanked DGP A K Shula and state’s all police officials who are now day-night working to curb drug-business.

"Tripura is a small state, but a beautiful state. But instead of going ahead to make it anIT-hub and to upgrade the Education system, the state was turned a centre for narcotic den. The regime of drug must be ended and Tripura should proceed now towards for development.

A massive rally was conducted in the capital city led by police, BSF, CRPF, TSR with banners of “Anti-Drug” move.
