AGARTALA, June 25 (TIWN): BJP led state govt will introduce Central Govt's pension policy from next month but the law will be applicable only for those employees who will be recruited from July, 2018. Earlier, Tripura Ex-Finance Minister Badal Choudhury who held the Finance Dept for long 10 years, said that a govt can’t introduce new pension policy from a particular year. If it wants to implement centre’s pension policy it has to follow from the year 2004. But in the same issue, CPI-M’s last Finance Minister Bhanu Lal Saha said, it’s not necessary that the govt has to follow rule since 2004 but it can introduce only for the fresher too. However, both the Ex-Ministers said, the New Pension Policy will bring losses to the future govt employees. On June 19, Finance Minister Jishnu Debbarma has announced that state govt likely to implement a new pension policy for them who will be recruited from the next month i.e. July-2018.

Following the statement arguments has been started as Ex-Finance Minister Badal Choudhury said, how can a state govt introduce a new pension policy as per its own wish ? In case of if they want to implement pension policy of the central govt then they have been include all from 2004. So does the govt planning to not to give pension to anybody who joined after 2004 ?

Bhanu Lal Saha said, “Central Govt since Congress era had been pressuring us to implement the new pension policy but it was left govt which always saved the earlier pensionpolicy. What the new policy wants to say is once an employees is done with his/her job then govt will have no liability, which according to us is very cruel”.

The issue came after Finance Minister Jishnu Debbarma in the Assembly while placing the budget said, Govt wants to start a new pension policy from next month.
