AGARTALA, June 11 (TIWN): It’s first time in Tripura's history that a Chief Minister was gheraoed, pushed back from entering in Dak Bunglow and it was none other than 20 years long ruling Ex-Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. The incident took place when Manik Sarkar reached Gandacherra in a visit aiming to talk to the local people of that area.
The reason behind the gherao was nothing but a dirty politics against the Ex-Chief Minister, claims CPI-M.
CPI-M in press release said, “Manik Sarkar along with MLA Tapan Chakbraborty, MLA Prabhat Chowdhury was in four days visit for Dhalai and North District. When Manik Sarkar’s vehicle was in front of the Dak Bunglow at Dhalai BJP,IPFT activists raised slogan asking him to Go Back”.
Around 25 BJP/IPFT activists attacked Manik Sarkar’s vehicle and participated in the gherao.
When opposition wanted to talk to DGP, police informed that DGP is right now busy.
At last when MP Jitendra Choudhury called Chief Minister Biplab Deb, then the blockade was withdrawn.
