‘BJP-IPFT Govt is running at opposite direction of its Vision Document’ : GMP appeals to stop mass starvation in Hills, requests CM Biplab Deb to respect BJP’s Pre-Election promises

AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): CPI-M’s tribal wing Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) led by GMP President MP Jitendra Chaudhury have placed a deputation to the Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Deb on Saturday alleging about various crisis and violent situations across the state. In the deputation, total 13 demands have been raised by the GMP. Along with congratulating the newly formed BJP led state govt, GMP told Chief Minister, BJP-IPFT came in power with multiple promises they made to the people. Even though the Govt is new but its working way style is seeming just opposite to the Vision Document. GMP also expressed concerns, complaining further how fundamental rights of common people have been snatched under the BJP-IPFT Govt.“Across the state restless situations are existing. Democratic rights of various political parties are being snatched. People are unable to work freely and their democratic rights are under threat”, GMP alleged. Chief Minister assured to look into the matter.

“Attacks have also been continued upon the livelihood of common people and for the sake of development of 38 lakhs people of Tripura, govt‘s immediate intervention is needed. If necessary, GMP will come forward to help the Govt”, GMP told CM.

GMP placed 10 demands before the CM. Their demands are :

  1. To arrange 100 days MGNREGA works according to law; and also as per govt of India’s law 150 days MGNREGA works should be given to the people who got 'patta' under Forest Act,
  2. According to the 6th schedule, ADC should get share of the taxes collected by state and central govt and it will be a part of GST. Apart from that, all arrears under all govt dept’s should be mitigated for the ADC areas,
  3. MGNREGA wages should be hiked at Rs. 340 form March 9,
  4. Bio-metric system should be suspended in deep rural, ADC area due to internet and power cut problem,
  5. Identify the Jumia families and shelterless people centric areas and to provide food to the people of there, marking those areas as ‘Poverty suffered areas’,
  6. Allowances/ Social pensions must be cleared within the first week of a month. From March 2018, the pensions should be hiked at Rs. 2000,
  7. Time to time health camps in critical areas, which are generally suffered from seasonal diseases, has been demanded by GMP,
  8. Elected Village Committee, Three-tiers system Panchayat and Municipalities rights are now attacked. It should be preserved, said GMP,
  9. The politically targeted people should get compensations and deceased families must get jobs,
  10. To decrease crime against women,
  11. The demolished party offices which were located beside govt and private institutions since many years, compensations must be given for them and rebuilding those constructions democratic rights should be restored,
  12. Govt must give up the decision to impose Hindi language practice upon people by removing Kokborok. Kokborok language must be brought under the 6th schedule,
  13. According to SC’s order reservation should be given in case of promotions according to rosters.

GMP other members as Ex Minister Naresh Jamatia, Pranab Debbarma (Add Secretary of GMP), Bhaswati Debbarma, Ramendra Debbarma also remained present during the deputation session.
