AGARTALA, June 3 (TIWN): With a plan to double the farmers’ incomes, Tripura BJP led state govt has decided to buy pineapples directly from the farmers at double price.

After flagging off the first ever journey of Queen Pineapples for Dubai on Sunday, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb told media, the farmers of pineapples in Tripura hardly can sell their products at Rs. 5, sometimes Rs. 10 to Rs. 12 to the local businessmen.

“The farmers till day were selling pineapples at minimum prices but now Govt will buy those fruits at Rs. 21”, CM said.

“Out of Rs. 21, Rs. 20 will be given to the farmers whereas 1 rupee will be kept to the govt fund. In that way the farmers’ incomes will be double”, CM said.

“This is how PM Modi’s vision to double the farmers income will be succeeded”, CM added.

However, with this move of the BJP Govt, now local pineapples may become costly and also the local businessmen may face bad times.
